Pompeo says US would assist North Korea’s economic system if it offers up nukes

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says america is prepared to assist North Korea with its economic system if the North eliminates its nuclear weapons.

Pompeo is holding a joint information convention with South Korean International Minister Kang Kyung-wha. He is talking the day after he returned from Pyongyang with three American detainees launched by North Korea.

Pompeo says the purpose of talks with North Korea is full and verifiable denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. He says he had “good” and “substantive” conversations with chief Kim Jong Un throughout his go to.

Kang says there have to be “hermetic” coordination between South Korea and the U.S. forward of President Donald Trump’s upcoming assembly with Kim.
