Rapper Jay-Z introduced his star energy to a Florida peace rally in reminiscence of slain teenager Trayvon Martin, who would have turned 23 this month.
Native information retailers report that Jay-Z joined Martin’s mother and father onstage Saturday in Miami Gardens on the sixth annual Peace Stroll & Peace Speak. The rally honors gun violence victims together with Martin, who Jay-Z described as a beacon of sunshine.
Martin, who as a black 17-year-old, was fatally shot in 2012 within the central Florida city of Sanford by white neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman, setting off a wave of racially charged protests across the nation. Zimmerman was later acquitted of all fees within the capturing.
